Ryan Evans is an accomplished up-and-coming trumpeter who has been a two-time winner of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Scholarship Competition, a Semi-Finalist in the Military Excerpts Division of the National Trumpet Competition (NTC), and a Semi-Finalist of NTC’s Undergraduate Solo Division. Notable solo performances also include recurring recitals at the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and his Undergraduate Degree Recital on April 24, 2023, on the campus of Michigan State University. In addition to these accomplishments, Ryan has performed in Masterclasses with artists such as Hunter Eberly, Michael Gause, Chris Gekker, Paul Randall, Douglas Lindsey, The Canadian Brass Quintet, Billy Hunter, Mark Maliniak, Thomas Drake, Michael Tiscione, and David Brockett.
Active as a collaborative artist as well, Ryan has been a Finalist in the Chamber Music Competition of the ITG, a Semi-Finalist of NTC’s Large Trumpet Ensemble Division, a Quarter-Finalist of NTC’s Small Trumpet Ensemble Division, a Winner of the Barbara Wagner Chamber Music Competition, a member of the Red Cedar Brass Quintet, a member of the Eastern Music Festival Brass Sextet, and performances in the Michigan State University Conducting Symposium. Additionally, Ryan has performed with notable ensembles such as the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Eastern Music Festival Festival Orchestra, the MSU Symphony Orchestra, the MSU Wind Symphony, and the MSU Symphony Band.
Passionate about helping others, Ryan has made meaningful contributions to the world of the United States Military by providing live performances of Taps for 10 years in various military services and ceremonies. In addition to this, Ryan has taught and maintained a private studio, to help others achieve their dreams through music and the arts.
Ryan is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance at the Peabody Conservatory. Ryan currently studies with Anthony Prisk, Second Trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and William Gerlach, Principal Trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra. Prior to his graduate studies, he obtained a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree from Michigan State University, studying with Justin Emerich and Heather Zweifel. Ryan’s major teachers also include Christopher Gekker, Scott Thornburg, and Dr. Robert White, and Keith Geiman.
